What do you do?
What do you do?

Sarah Black deals with this question every day at North Gwinnett Middle School in Christian Louboutin Hill, Georgia, where she is one of the orchestra teachers who faces a total of 400 students. During her time in the trenches, Black has tried a number of exercises that both teach and entertain and put the "fun" back in "fundamentals.''

"It seems to help the learning stick with students," Black says. "It also gives them catch phrases or checkpoints in their mind when they are at home working on their own. For instance, if they are setting up their position, they can remind themselves to have 'kissable posture' or not to 'lose their marbles.'"

Here are 15 games that Black recommends to keep your students on their toes.

If they are sitting properly, they should be able to do this without moving their feet. It's a great energizer.

After the activity, tell students to have "kissable posture" to remind them that they should sit up straight.

Violinists and violists try to balance a marble, Whopper, Gobstopper, or ping-pong ball at their bridge (not on the top edge of the bridge, however). If they hold the instruments tall, they won't lose their marbles.

Place a Life Saver (or Cheerio) on the tip of the bow while performing different movements and try to keep it from falling.

With their bows, the students make motions similar to windshield wipers while keeping their bow holds formed. Louboutin Dillian Pump this at different speeds: sprinkle, shower, puddle, and hurricane.

Queue up some marching music and have students form a parade of perfect bow holds. Each student must be keeping a beautiful bow hold while marching to a steady beat. If they have a really great bow hold, you can reward them by handing out those chocolate medals you find in the party-favor aisle at a local discount store.

Ask your students to draw a staff on a piece of paper or pass out laminated flash cards that are large enough for M&Ms (or whatever you choose to use) to fit on the lines and spaces. Hand out a few M&Ms, Skittles, or beads.
