One major ridiculous tradition is hazing. Hazing as we all know it, thanks to dazed and confused movie, is some silly seniors trying to prove how cool they are by initiating the younger pledges. As if hazing has any real merit to the fraternity or sororities success. But more importantly it is kids thinking this crap up. With no filter or understanding of how ridiculous this is, hazing often goes very wrong. There are many cases where hazing has turned into some serious legal troubles. Many times the irresponsibility of the children running these things results in death. For example, the University of Texas is intwined in a Wrongful Death Case of a young man named Tyler Cross. Mr. Cross fell 5 stories to his death after a hazing incedent. The allogations are that Mr. Cross was intimidated and fed large amounts of alcohol to complete his initiation. His blood alcohol level was twice the limit to drive and to top it off he was underage. Most colleges and universities have anti-hazing statutes in their rules and regulations. Unfortunately they rarely have a clue this is going on. Many of the administration staff and people in charge probably went throught the same rituals and feel if they had to do it so does everyone following them. It truly is rediculous to behave like this. It is understood the idea behind hazing. Designed to build bonds and loyalty and to weed out the people who truly aren't committed. But it has gotten out of control. The youth today don't understand how to handle fun pranks and create quality bonding experiences through tradition and therefore needs to stop.About the Author:| welcome to loan (http://www.yloan.com/) | Powered by Discuz! 5.5.0 |
