subject: Sunday Morning Rising Up [print this page]

Have you ever heard Kris Kristofferson's hit song, Sunday Morning Coming Down? For the life of me, boy, it isn't very motivating. The guy gets up with a hangover Sunday morning, looks through the clothes hamper, finds his cleanest dirty shirt, and goes out for a walk.

On the other hand, those individuals with a higher consciousness, who have chosen to contribute, have a life that is of a totally different quality.

Now, you and I both know country music is all about sorrow, and heartache, and beers, and mothers, and trains, and buses, and planes, and bad stuff. And even though I live part of my life in Nashville, Tennessee, and I subscribe to country music, I'm certainly not a fan-David Allen Coe is not my kind of guy.

And recently, Steve McNair, famous NFL quarterback of the Nashville Titans, was shot in his sleep by his young girlfriend while his wife and 4 children were waiting for him, after getting drunk at the "Loser's Bar". Hmmm... RIP.

But do you see what I'm saying?!

Let's talk about contributing. Let's talk about how you access your higher powers. Now, that's worthy of a Sunday morning rising up. Really, it takes courage...it takes a belief. Find someone who can inspire you, someone that you believe understands that they're noble.

You get to adopt your belief. See, nobody's going to do it for you. You get to adopt it by diving deep into yourself, by realizing that life is contributing, by realizing that once you find your purpose, you can contribute. You're the one that decides what that purpose is, according to your character, your preferences, your choices-as long as it's contributing, as long as it's positive.

Once you do that, you see, you have moved yourself out of the rat race. The vast, vast majority of people have no reason in their lives for existence. No reason. Oh, they can say, "For my kids," and I'm not saying that's not noble. But I'm saying that there's more to it than just survival and a J-O-B.

Let's get right down to it. How much does it take for you to copulate and bring offspring into this world? What's required? Hah, I thought you'd say that. On the other hand, what is required to have any cause where you're working to make the world better?

You're working for children, you're working for the rainforest, you're working for the tribe. You're creating books, articles, music. It could be in the civil world-highways that make a country, or a city, operate better.

You see, that's a contribution. What's required?

You know, it gets a lot worse than just survival, which is what most people think of. You know, there are criminals out there; there are serial killers out there. And at least part of the motivation is, they do it for the fame. I can't even understand the indignity and the darkness that must be in those souls.

But for you, my enlightened friend-Sunday morning rising up. If you don't know your purpose right now, know that your purpose will charge you beyond belief.

Adopting your purpose alone will guide every step you take, will connect you with your vision and with the goals you set, your causes, the energy that you have in life. The knowingness, the awareness that this world is better because you were here. The knowledge, the awareness that you are doing something positive.

That you will go down in the history books. Everybody can, everybody does. In a positive manner, is what you're looking for.

My enlightened friend, adopt your purpose. The cause that God put you here to do-honor it to make this world better, to serve humanity, and to go on to live the life that you were designed to live. Drill deep into your consciousness, drill deep into your heart, and you will find it.

That's what I call Sunday morning rising up.
