Here are some important tips that can assist you in self-packing of things on your move.

First of all gather all the required packing materials well in advance to avoid last minute hassles. Purchase goods quality boxes or cartons of different sizes. Do compromise with the quality of packaging & boxing materials. Things you will need in packing goods are strong boxes or cartons (of different sizes), heavy duty packaging tapes, strong ropes or strings, labeling stickers, permanent marker, padding materials, old newspapers, wrapping sheets, bubble wraps, scissors, etc.

Before you start pack things, make a list of all things you have in your house. Keep assist things you will not need in future or things which are useless for you. Donate such items to poor or charity. You can make a garage sale for such items which will help you earn some money. Pack things first which are not of daily use. Pack items of daily uses at last. Pack fragile items carefully using enough layer of wrapping sheets around. Put them in boxes and fill empty spaces with old newspapers. Pack things room by room basis. Do not pack entire your household items in a single day otherwise you will feel extremely tired or you may fell into ill. So, pack on room in a day and second room in next day. After packing things properly, seal the boxes with packaging tape. You may also tie them with strong ropes. Remember, you should keep weight of boxes as you can lift yourself. 15 to 20 kg is recommended. After finishing packing and boxing, make labeling of boxes with permanent markers. Write down on labeling stickers about content inside the boxes. Labeling can assist you unpack things properly.
