A list of some distractions that are worse than the constant sound of a train horn or something's Mustang Benz rims getting destroyed in a garbage compactor. Children If youve got a small child in your home than you know what a distraction a child can be when you are trying to get something important done. Whether it is the usual household chores or something creative, the constant attention and needs of a child can really wear you out and stop you from getting anything done. The best way to deal with the distraction of a child when trying to finish a project or get something done is to work with your significant other or your family to divide up the time in watching your child so that each person can get their work done or relax for a little while without the distraction of a child at some point during the day. For families that work odd hours this can be a challenge but remember that no matter what important things you have to do, the life of a child is always the most important. Music As a big fan of all types of music I often find myself surrounding myself with it. As soon as I walk in the door Ive got some music on whether in my room or in the living room. Also, when I am riding the bus to work I almost always have to have my iPod playing to block out the sounds on the bus. The problem is that I have become overreliant on using music as a distraction itself to block out other sounds or to make myself look unapproachable or busy. Its not that music itself is the distraction but it is the use of music AS the distraction on purpose. A good way to beat the distraction of music is pretty simple: turn it off. While this may be positive for some people, those who absolutely need some sort of music should consider turning on the classical station very low or playing some of the ambient works of Brian Eno or Harold Budd, or check out simplynoise.com which allows you to emit a looping white noise frequency which studies have found to be conducive to concentration and sleep.About the Author:
