It usually begins when women start dieting or following a diet plan to such an extent that they avoid even those foods that are highly essential and required by the body. Even if it is being done to lose weight, it is important to follow a plan that consists of eating healthy food, and not starving oneself.

Hormonal changes may also be responsible hair thinning and hair loss in women, especially after a miscarriage or an abortion. Some change may also be evident after the birth of the baby.
