subject: Breaking through the barriers of Network Marketing [print this page] Network Marketing is a very rewarding career path, both financially and philosophically. It has been said that Network Marketing has produced more Millionaires than any other business in history.
Network Marketing has its barriers and challenges, like any business as well as preconceived opinion on what Network Marketing is or isn't.
We are taught in business circles not to focus on the negative. Always portray the positive side of something. The problem with that is, when negative things happen if we try not to mention it, we look as though we are trying to cover something up. This article is designed to bring some of the dirt out from under the mat and highlight ways not to sweep it back under.
Preconceived thoughts and ideas about Network Marketing
Preconceived thoughts and opinions on Network Marketing surface more from opinions expressed by others who also have a negative opinion about it. This often stems from a failed attempt at doing the business themselves or from listening to conversation from people who have failed or quit.
This is a positive preconceived opinion but it is expressed in a way that gives an opinion everyone will fail or quit just because this particular person did. Network Marketing is not a business for everyone. If any individual decides the business is not for them after giving it a solid amount of effort, they can at least say they gave it a go. To say "I gave it a go" is a lot easier to live with than saying "If only"
There is also a preconceived opinion that Network Marketing is illegal. This idea stems from similarities between legitimate product and service based Network Marketing businesses and schemes set up simply as a way of sponsoring people so that money could flow upline. No product changes hands in these illegal "pyramid systems".
It has often been said, If it looks like a Duck, Quacks like a duck and waddles like a duck, then it's probably a Duck. I'm certain in this example the Duck is definitely a Duck, however, using the same metaphor for comparing Illegal Pyramid schemes and Legitimate Network Marketing businesses is like saying an Athlete who uses steroids and an Athlete using exercise, diet and determination should be treated equally on the track.
Obviously the Athlete using Steroids (Pyramid scheme) and the Athlete using Exercise, diet and determination (Network Marketing) can not fairly be treated as equals on the same playing field.
