subject: Orange Bowl Tickets - Projected Orange Bowl Participants [print this page]

The Orange Bowl is still quite a ways away, not slated to kickoff until the 5th of January, 2010. Still, it's high time we started thinking about the teams that will be competing in this amazing college football tradition. The Orange Bowl typically takes the winner of the ACC and an at-large team deemed good enough to qualify for a spot in this important BCS Bowl Game. Who will win the ACC? Which school will be selected from the field to play in Miami this season? Let's take a look at some of the most likely possible participants. Whoever makes the Orange Bowl, make sure you see the game live by going online to secure Orange Bowl tickets.

Georgia Tech - The Georgia Tech Ramblin' Wreck are perhaps the most likely team of all to make the trip to Miami this January. As of Nov. 22, 2009 the Yellow Jackets are in control of the ACC Coastal Division with a conference record of 7-1, compared to their next closest Coastal opponent, Virginia Tech, at 5-2. Georgia Tech has one remaining regular season game, a rivalry match with their hated Peach State rivals, the Georgia Bulldogs. While the Georgia game will be tough, it's not critical to their playing in the Orange Bowl. You see, GT can still play in the ACC Title Game even with a loss to Georgia. What will matter is the result of the ACC Title Game, where we slate Georgia Tech will be pitted against Clemson. Who will win? It's anybody's guess at this point!

Clemson - As we alluded to above, the Clemson Tigers can get into the Orange Bowl if they can get to the ACC Title Game and beat Georgia Tech. Clemson, like Georgia Tech, will take on one of their SEC rivals, South Carolina, on Thanksgiving Day. While that game could create some much-needed momentum heading into the ACC title game, it' not completely necessary for Clemson to beat South Carolina to get to the Orange Bowl. Everything depends on winning the ACC title. If Clemson can keep their Tiger eyes (literally the eyes of the Tiger) on the prize, then they'll be Orange Bowl-bound.

TCU - The Horned Frogs of TCU make for an excellent pick to get to the Orange Bowl. TCU boasts an undefeated record, and a strong place in the polls, No. 4 in the BCS and AP. The Horned Forogs will play New Mexico on the 28th of November, and so long as they win that game and remain undefeated throughout the regular season, they're a safe bet to get into the Orange Bowl.

Boise State - Boise State, like TCU, is undefeated at this late point in the season. A matchup with Nevada and then New Mexico State await the Broncos as they try to finish the season undefeated. If they can, and they can either keep or move up their poll positions (they're currently at No. 6 in the AP and BCS), they have a good shot at getting into either the Orange Bowl or the Fiesta Bowl.
