This technique is mainly used for the covering of rooftops after a major disaster like a hurricane or tornado. The wrap can also some in handy for containing any environmental threats like asbestos and lead.

Some adult themed and comic magazines are also covered and sealed by using heat shrink wrapping materials. This is mainly done to keep minors from looking or to preserve the value of the magazine. The truth is that there are thousands of products being sealed with this material that people are virtually unaware about. It is so commonly used it is a wonder why more people are aware of its existence. That being said next time to glance at something covered in plastic, it was probably done with the shrink wrap.
