subject: Saving a Shaky Marriage [print this page]

Marriage is the highest form of intimacy between a man and a woman and people get married when they think they found the right person to share that intimacy with. But even couples who seem to be so in love with each other at first end up in shaky or worse, broken marriages. This usually happens when both of the couple's eyes are opened to the reality of married life.

Personal differences are a common reason why married couples decide to give up on their relationship. These are the little things from bad habits to cultural barriers that when left to get out of hand will eventually lead to broken hearts and broken marriages.

Differences in religious beliefs are a very common cause of argument between a husband and a wife since either one has his or her own mindset on seeing and doing things. While the other wants to practice a certain ritual this way, the other one would insist they practice it another way. This is very difficult especially if a nagging wife or a controlling husband wants to "convert" his or her partner into his or her religion.

Communication is another factor, in fact, a very big one. What most women really need is a husband who will communicate with them what they need to hear. But instead of the man taking the lead, what he does is he backs off and lets his wife take over the situation. The result? a nagging wife.

Let's go to another one. Cheating. Nothing gives you the feeling of being stabbed in the back than by being betrayed by your husband or your wife. Most marriages end up as soon as one of both sides discover they are being cheated upon.

Now, no one on his or her wedding day would think "Yes! I am getting married now but after seven years I'm going to file divorce and leave my partner." And no one can also say that he or she is exempted from facing difficulties in his or her married life.

If you are in a very shaky marriage right now, just hold on and believe that there are people out there who are willing to help you. Ask advice from your parents or people whom you know have a strong marriage. But most of all pray and ask God to show you what you need to do with your situation. It always works!
