subject: Would You Like To Go Back To College This Year? [print this page]

If you would like to get a better job with higher pay, and you are interested in learning more about what you do for a living, you can do this by going back to college and getting a degree. The main problem that most people have with going back to college is the enormously high cost. However, if you know about government (and private) grants, loans, and scholarships, these programs can decrease your out-of-pocket cost considerably.

When you begin your search for college money, you want to be sure that you are well prepared. This could mean spending some time on the phone and using the mails to track down things such as your high school transcript, recent tax returns, current and past pay stubs from your work, and more. The Financial Aid people at your local community college can be very patient and very helpful.

There are so many programs out there that could help people return to college to finish their education, it's amazing to find out that so many remain, year after year, unclaimed. Why? There are several reasons. Some people can't be bothered with paperwork unless they absolutely have to. Some have a fear of rejection. Still others have a fear of success!

Having good grades is only one of the ways of getting money for college from grants and scholarship programs. If you have good grades, though, they are not the only criterion for most grant programs. You generally have to also show a level of commitment to the field you wish to go into, and a level of civic involvement (volunteering, etc.) is very helpful, as well.

You don't have excellent grades? Don't worry -- there are also programs available for everyone else, not based on grades, but according to your nationality, skills, life experience, and so on. Take a look at the internet and search for "money for college" and start exploring your financial solution for returning to school!
