subject: Mini Notebook Computers - Great For The Computer User On The Go [print this page]

If you are any sort of tech savvy then you will have noticed the boom in popularity of mini notebook computers. They are becoming increasingly common because they are the most portable type of computer on the market.

These types of computers are available in such small sizes and at lows prices because they are made out of smaller components or out of outdated computer parts. They are not very powerful on average and most of them lack some of the components that your middle or high quality laptop would have.

A lot of the mini notebooks lack a CD and DVD drive. This feature that many people have gotten used to having on their desktops and laptops are usually left out when these mini notebooks are made so that there is a reduced cost that is passed on to the consumer. It also contributes to their smaller size. Unless you plan on viewing a lot of DVDs on your notebook, this should be no problem to you.

They also usually have hard drives with less space than laptops and, especially, desktops do. Do not be surprised if the harddrives on these computers are between a minuscule 10 GB and 60 GB of storage. However, do not fret as there are easy remedies to these problems. Get a large thumb drive or external hard drive.

Something else to keep in mind is that chances are these computers will not be very powerful graphically. This is not a problem that can be fixed easily, so if you are looking for a notebook computer to play games on regularly, then one of these is probably not your answer.

While mini notebook computers do have their uses, they also have their setbacks.
