You want to get all that you can from the people that work for you. They are probably the single largest expense that you have in your business. It is important that they are doing as much as they can for your business. They are so important because they are really the backbone of your business. If they are happy then everyone that visits your company is likely to be happy too.
You need to make absolutely sure that your employees are aware that you value them and what they do for your company. You need to think of some ways to show them that they are special to you. It does depend on the sort of business you have and the type of employees too. If most of the group you have is married and they rush out of work to collect children and run by the grocery before heading home, they won't be thrilled by you having them stay late to have dinner.
Encouraging them to push harder will require further incentives but they are surely up to the challenge and knowing that there is something in it for them as well, will provide you with proven results. You can accomplish this by working together on goal setting and then let them know that if you achieve these goals there will be a reward. And let them know what the reward will be. This will cause them to become more motivated to achieve these goals.
You might want to try and get more sales from them or even referrals. If you can have them collect referrals from customers that they have an affinity with it would be really great for business. There could be rewards for the customer who gives the referral and for the employee that acquires it. You will be amazed by the increase in your business from referrals.
Don't stop there when you are working toward having happier employees. There is more that you can do to create a better adjusted and happier staff. You can have contests of all kinds even silly ones to get people excited. Have a prize for the most well decorated desk or the best Halloween costume to keep things lively. Also don't forget to do birthday parties. You could have a monthly one and make sure that everyone that has a birthday is included.
