[print this page] Louis Vuittons latest collaboration with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami, called the Cosmic Blossom Collection, is causing some serious buzz. Murakami is responsible for the fabulous Louis Vuitton Multicolore Monogram line, which I adore, so I couldnt wait to take a look at their most recent collaboration. Unfortunately, in my humble opinion, this new line of Louis Vuitton handbags isnt quite the parade of masterpieces that the Multicolore line was.
These new Louis Vuitton handbags feature Murakamis Superflat artwork under a heritage Louis Vuitton signature printed on glossy vinyl in vibrant colors. To be fair, I do like the label. In fact, I think its gorgeous, and so is the print, but EEEK! Too much bubblegum! What were they thinking with those colors? Nothing against the color pink, but these handbags look positively radioactive. The only people I could see wearing these are Miley Cyrus and the tweens that adore her. I got rid of my Barbie dollswell, most of themdecades ago, and my love of over-the-top, in-your-face, bubblegum colors went out the door with them. But thats just one girls opinion.
The Cosmic Blossom Collection will hit Louis Vuitton stores April 15th, but if youre smart, youll probably opt for a replica Louis Vuitton version to avoid the outrageous US$550 to US$1480 price tags, right?
