Updating your bedroom is a relatively cheap and easy task, and there are a lot of simple touches that you can do to make an impact without impacting on your wallet. If you have a fairly neutral coloured room, opt for bright, statement pieces like a large patterned duvet cover and pillows, or some scatter cushions and a throw to really draw the eye to the centre of the room. Make patterns stand out by surrounding them with items of the same colour, to really add impact. This works well in a small room as it draws the attention away from the size. If you have a small room in the attic that you want to use for spare accommodation, then you need to keep the room feeling light and airy. Try a padded headboard, light throws and cushions of different textures to keep the room feeling welcoming. If the room is small, make a simple feature light a lampshade. Decorate a light shade with butterflies, and continue the stencil onto the wall behind, creating the illusion of a lot more space. Add a vase of fresh flowers to make it seem more homely. If you want to add a quirk to a bedroom, why not add a feature by making a dressing table area? Add monochrome designs, lamps and freestanding mirrors, and try dangling bead necklaces to really create some drama in the room. Place a large canvas behind the mirror to carry on the unique feature. If you are planning on redesigning your home, make sure that you have Home Insurance.
