Wax Tarts, What Are They?
Wax Tarts, What Are They?

Wax tarts are so called because they look similar to edible tarts that we are all used to. They are however made from scented wax that whilst molten is placed in a tart mould and allowed to cool. The result is wax tart that is fragranced and not edible. "That's not much good" I hear you say but there is more to a wax tart than meets the eye.

What Do I Do With A Wax Tart?

Well you don't eat it. These little fragranced pies (as they are sometimes called in the US) are designed for use in a tart burner. Tart burners are sometimes called Oil Burners in the UK and sometimes referred to as Pie Warmers in the US. They are made from ceramic pottery or glass and are always composed of an area for placing a tea light candle and a reservoir or dish to hold oil or a wax tart. The idea is that you place a wax tart in the dish and light a tea light candle below. This has the effect of heating the dish, melting the wax tart and releasing the fragrance within the tart.

What's So Special About That?

Wax tarts used in a tart burner are simply a fantastic way of fragrancing your home. They are cheap, readily available and offer a huge amount of fragrance for the amount of wax. The indirect heating of the fragranced wax results in a pure release of fragrance from the burner as no wick is directly in contact with the fragranced wax as in a scented candle. Give them a try and you will see what I mean

Are There Any Types of Wax Tart To Look Out For?

A shameless plug I know, but soy wax tarts such as those made by Busy Bee Candles, my company (www.busybeecandles.co.uk) are in my opinion far better than paraffin tarts. Why? The main reason is the longevity of the scent given by a soy tart. Soy wax evaporates much more slowly than paraffin and results in a much longer time to enjoy the fragrance. Paraffin tarts usually last only a couple of hours but based on my experience and feedback from our customers, soy tarts can last for much longer (over 12 hours of use, each)! At the price of an average soy wax tart, they are simply unbeatable in terms of fragrancing power and value. I suggest that you head on over to our web site, add a few tarts to your basket and enjoy beautiful fragrances in your home. The scents last for hour after hour. Try our Lime Cooler or Mediterranean Fig fragrances. They are absolutely divine and will definitely "enrich your life" with amazing scents!
