subject: Information About The 9700 Black Phone [print this page]

Cell phone and smart phone users have available the new Blackberry 9700 Black, which was released last November. There is another version of the phone with WI-FI capability, known as the Bold. The 9700 black version is the newest flagship device of the company, with new software and a ton of different useful features. Did you know that you can convert DVDs to the Blackberry AVI format in high quality format? This means that you can watch just about any video or movie on your phone at any time, in any place.

There is much buzz going around about the look and design of the 9700 black and its hardware. It has beveled edges and a powder coated keyboard. The battery cover is faux leather-textured and there is a trackpad to handle navigation when it is needed. Some of the models have an all-white color theme for the keyboard that goes well with the titanium chrome finish on the bezel and the high gloss black finish on the front of the 9700 black.

The Bold's display moved in a new direction with the display, with a new screen that is more advanced than the last. The resolution is 480 X 360, and it almost looks like the pictures float on top of the screen. The colors are unusually crisp and vibrant, which many of us know is far different from the colors of many other phones. There is a black border around the entire display, though, and it seems that although some people do not let that bother them at all, others do not like it.

The operating system is one of the versions of OS 5.0, which has updated icons, buttons and more gradients and blues. It also has kinetic scrolling available on some of the devices. There are different versions of this operating system on different devices, and the versions that are just a bit earlier don't have the updated UI that later builds contain. You can upgrade your unit though so that it has the updates that are featured in the new versions, so you don't have to worry that your new device is going to already come with a less than optimal operating system.

Other features that are available on the 9700 black include 3G Web browsing, Wi-Fi calling, visual voice mail, email options, and it is preloaded with many applications from the App World, including applications to quickly download and store music. The 9700 black also will have the application TeleNav GPS Navigator so that you won't get lost and will have turn-by-turn directions.
