Cellulite is a common issue caused by the clustering distribution of the fat cells found mainly on the backs of the legs of most women and some men, usually even regardless of your fitness level, and it can be made either better or worse by exercise, diet, use of topical treatments, age and other factors. But to get rid of it altogether, there is a treatment you may want to talk to your Doctor of Chiropractic about.

Endermologie was created in France but is now catching on in the United States, and is done in a series of anywhere from seven to eighteen sessions that are normally about 35', once or twice a week. It is not a surgery and most patients say it feels like a very thorough massage, and very few complain that it is ever painful. The procedure is performed by means of a mechanical roller which, when contacted with the skin, does several things to visibly reduce cellulite. The pressure induced by the roller literally squishes the cellulite deposits out of their dimpling while a suction feature brings a small bit of skin up into the device, stretching the skin and the subcutaneous fat underneath it and emulsifying the redistribution brought on by the pressure of rolling.

Furthermore, the stretching serves as a detox, helping to flush out the fluids and toxins that result in dimpling and cellulite in the first place. It is also thought that a "bonus feature" of endermologie is that it exfoliates the skin treated with it, removing not only fluid toxins, but also solid toxic materials in the skin and furthering the rejuvenation.

Contrary to what many believe (and though it may be used in conjunction to lipo and other body sculpting procedures), endermologie, in and of itself, is nothing like liposuction. Whereas liposuction is surgical, removes the reserve fat layer, has the risk of infection, but does nothing to change the appearance of cellulite; endermologie does not actually remove anything, does not involve a single puncture to the body, and merely kick starts the metabolism to shrink and redistribute the subcutaneous fat we usually call cellulite evenly, to reduce its cottage cheese like bumpiness or "dimples".

Endermologie is less expensive than liposuction, which can cost around $2000: individual endermologie treatments are around $50 a session, and, depending on your fitness level and the discretion of your doctor of chiropractor, you may need more or less sessions. However, it is generally recommended that patients go to more sessions than less, as the longer endermologie is practiced, the longer the results last.

Other factors contribute to optimizing your endermologie results, such as drinking enough water, diet and getting enough exercise. Also, unlike your fitness level's effect on the cause of cellulite, after treatment, the better it is, the better your body's ability to retain the redistribution will be.

Endermologie has enjoyed widespread popularity for the past fifteen years; it is endorsed by supermodels, actresses and cover girls world wide, and is one of the sole methods of body contouring approved by the FDA. You may be surprised at how widely the practice is available, but one of the best places to begin is to call up your local chiropractor today.
