subject: Modern Fireplaces Have A New Home - Outside The Home [print this page]

An more and more common trend among homeowners is the introduction of the warmth and tranquility of fireplaces to chosen spaces on the OUTSIDE of their houses. Outdoor gas fireplaces give an otherwise cold and charmless patio or back yard area new appeal, making it a place where friends and family enjoy spending a lot of time. They are especially popular in colder climates.

A lot of different styles of gas fireplaces are currently available, from appearances that are classic to contemporary designs, from traditional fireplaces to ultra- modern fireplaces. There are even some very beautiful avante garde designs, more like burning pieces of art than mere fireplaces. You can accentuate any outdoor space and bring new life to it, and all for the utility costs of a space heater.

Outdoor gas fireplaces would be perfect accents for the area near the swimming pool or hot tub, or near the guest seating area of an outdoor kitchen. They can turn patios into the most attractive rooms in the house. And, being ventless, they are easy to install more or less anywhere.

Gas fireplaces are made from such materials cast iron, stainless steel, enamel, molded concrete, or even bronze, with beautifying accents made out of copper, or different kinds of tile or stone. Some modern fireplaces feature lava rocks for a gorgeous natural look.

Gas fireplaces take all the work out of owning a fireplace. They do not need to be regularly cleaned like wood-burning fireplaces, and there is no effort to igniting the flame. They are the ultimate combination of beauty and utility. Some modern fireplaces are portable; others have features that allow you to cook food with them. Some are designed to sit on a table or counter; some are made to hang on a wall.

Outdoor wood-burning fireplaces and gas and wood-burning fire-pits are also big these days. But these items don"t have the charm or convenience that outdoor gas fireplaces have. People today are very busy, and time must be managed very efficiently. Who has time to be lighting wood fires or cleaning out old ashes? Gas fireplaces are generally not susceptible to wind or rain.

Modern fireplaces designed for outdoor use create a space that is an intriguing combination of the outside and the inside. The space it is used to heat becomes at once cozy and adventurous, like a marriage of camping around a campfire and cozying up with a good book by the hearth. And when you are done using it, you just turn it off.
