subject: How Does Helicopter Courier Service Work? [print this page]

When the average company hires a courier to deliver something for them, the vehicle that will move their goods for them is usually a car, or a delivery van. Other companies might utilize bicycle messenger, while others might find a Chicago courier service with a large trucking division to move larger amounts of cargo. There are companies through that need more specialized delivery methods available to them at certain times. Probably the most specialized delivery method of all is helicopter delivery service.

Helicopters aren't maybe the type of vehicle that you would typically think of hiring to deliver a package for you. However, they are very useful in certain capacities when it comes to making deliveries. They have a speed and maneuverability which many other types of vehicles lack, which makes them the perfect option for making very specific types of deliveries.

The main reason that a company might decide to use a helicopter to make their deliveries is because of how fast they are able to respond to a delivery request and get a shipment completed. Helicopter response and delivery time is much quicker than any other available courier option. Unless you're shipping an exceptionally long distance when an airline would be more practical, helicopters often give you the shortest time between when you place the order and when the product is in your client's hands.

Another thing that helicopter's are very useful for is making deliveries to locations which are not easy to reach by other methods of transportation. For instance, many emergency camps and outposts in the mountains or forests are serviced by helicopter couriers. Certain off shore platforms and vessels also have supplies brought in regularly by helicopter. Their ability to travel easily to difficult locations makes them very valuable in this regard.

Helicopters are also a key component in the medical delivery world. Medical delivery is subset of the courier industry which makes deliveries of key medical supplies. These might range from drugs and medicines to blood, tissue samples, and even organs. Some of these shipments must be moved as fast as possible in order to provide treatments to patients, and in these types of situations, a helicopter provides the perfect means to transport those goods. Most hospitals, clinics, and other treatment facilities at least have access to a courier service that utilizes helicopters in case they need one. Larger hospitals will even have places for helicopters to land right on the grounds.
