In the Gulf of Mexico region there are more than 27,000 desolated oil and natural gas wells and the United States government should take proper measures to prevent the contamination of the water by the crude oil since these wells are damaged by the heavy blast.The United States legislator and the environmental groups requested the government , to take proper care on the oil and the natural gas fields that were deserted.The reports declared by the Associated Press revealed that, the government functionaries did not examine the devastated oil well after the leakage and thousands of natural gas and oil wells were not fitted properly to the land. The Greenpeace representative Melanie Duchin told that, she was stunned by reading the reports established by the Associated Press and she was unhappy with the work did by the officials since they failed to examine the wells after the devastation. In the Gulf, for the past six decades nearly 50,000 oil wells were bores and currently around 23,500 wells have been banned for good and around 3500 energy wells are prohibited for a short span of time by the Federal Governors.

The Veterans in the petroleum industry told that, the wells that are sealed can leak after few decades due to the failure of the cement plugs, rusting of the metal case and if there is any sealing failure the wells it leads mounting of high pressure. The governor told that Bureau of Ocean Energy Management has began to admit the well closure report without examining the wells and neither the company nor the government performs regular check the deserted oil refineries. The Associated Press while performing its investigation found successive warnings such as the offshore oil wells that are abandoned may affect the environment. The study commission by the Minerals Management Service declared that, the affected oil wells in the Gulf regions may emit crude oil, but they did not receive proper response.

The oil and natural gas production is to be increased in the Libya and currently it is yielding 1.3 to 1.7 million barrels of oil per day and aims to reach 3 million barrels of oil per day. The National oil company of the Libya declared that, Turkish Petroleum the leading oil manufacturing company in the Turkey has found a couple of new offshore oil wells sited at the Gulf of Morzuk and South West Libya. Coalition is formed between the National oil company and the Turkish Petroleum for exploring the oil wells, the lions share of the production will be maintained by the National oil company and the remaining will be handled by the Turkish Petroleum.
