In our own little ways, we can help save the world we live in. At home, simple things like turning off the tap when you are not using water, keeping the fridge doors closed, turning off electrical and electronic equipments when they are not in use, using rechargeable batteries, recycling paper and other recyclable wastes, and setting up a system of collecting rainwater for later use are just some ways by which we can help the earth.
When shopping, use plastic as little as possible. Make a small sacrifice of carrying your own bags to the shops for taking back your shopping. As you know, plastic, along with glass bottles, plays a big role in creating mountains of rubbish. Buy biodegradable cleaning products, as well as energy-efficient household appliances.
With regards to travelling, try to reduce car use. Instead, use public mediums of transport. Trying to fit your errands into one day, and travelling in a car pool can also make a difference.
All of us have a role in ensuring environmental sustainability, for our children, and our children's children. Let us help preserve the environment even through small steps that can make such a huge difference.
