subject: Promote Jewelry Products To Earn Affiliate Income [print this page]

From a simple web page or blog post to a more elaborated website, jewelry affiliate programs are possibilities to monetize a website or earn an income on the Internet. There are many jewelry merchants with affiliate programs that can be considered to make money online, how can the selection be made?

The first thing to do is to visit the merchant's site and see if it is easy to navigate and find products. Are the products of good quality? Are they all expensive, or too cheap to make any affiliate commission? A wide range of prices is ideal as there will be a product for any potential buyer's budget.

The second thing to do would be to add products in the shopping cart and see if the process is smooth when ordering. Faulty software, too many steps or links to click, too many distractions like other offers before check-out, may lead to shopping cart abandonment, which is a loss for affiliates as well as merchants.

Finally, where does the merchant ship? Does that match the traffic on the affiliate's site? What is the return policy and shipping fees? Does the merchant's site has some review of happy customers having bought jewelry? A great deal of questions, that the affiliate has to think about as a customer himself before starting to promote the store's products.

An important factor would be now to have a close look at the affiliate program and see if the merchant works with an affiliate network, such as ShareAsale or Commission Junction, or runs its own software. There are advantages and inconveniences to both of them, but the network, at least, assures that tracking is reliable and shows if the jewelry merchant is in good standing financially.

The second thing an affiliate would look for is the commission and the cookie duration, which is the time frame an affiliate is credited the sale when a customer returns to the site and makes a purchase. A higher commission may not be ideal if the cookie duration is too short. Some jewelry partner programs permit just a session to generate a sale, while others give 120 days to their affiliates...

The third thing would be to look at the creative the jewelry merchant makes available to their affiliates. Do they have a large choice of banners in different sizes? Do they provide coupons, a data-feed and widgets? Do they have an experienced dedicated partner manager to help their affiliates and answer questions? That's more questions affiliates should be answering themselves.

For those who are fans of jewelry, and already have a site or blog about the subject, adding a range of product links to it will improve the surfer's experience and monetize their site. For the professional affiliates who build complete sites using a data feed, or practice search marketing, jewelry is certainly a product to have in one's portfolio of affiliate sites.
