Sprawled across 20,000 square meters in Rainbow Harbor, Long Beachs Aquarium of the Pacific is a larger-than-life institution that encompasses 20 marine habitats, 11,000 sea creatures and 32 exhibits exploring the three major regions of the Pacific Ocean. The venues main exhibits comprise of the Tropical Pacific Gallery, Northern Pacific Gallery, Southern California Gallery, the Shorebird Sanctuary, Lorikeet Forest and Shark Lagoon in addition to the Turtle Vision 3D tour, Gulf of California, Whales: Voices in the Sea, Our Watersheds: Pathway to the Pacific and the Ocean On The Edge experience.

Highlights include the Shark Lagoon with over 150 sharks that include massive sharks and rays in an interactive experience like no other. Visitors can get up close and personal with the shark species with the likes of the epaulette, Zebra and bamboo varieties in the three touch pools that are located on-site. The 10,000 square foot enclosure also offers visitors a look at deadly shark varieties such as the sandbar, sand tiger, white tip and nurse while daily feeding routines and informative presentations are also available. Other displays include those that deal with the sharks teeth, size and lifestyle while memorabilia can be purchased at the Shark Shack gift store.

The Tropical Pacific Gallery is another must-see display as it features well over 1000 vibrant fish varieties in 16 exhibits that focus on the diverse marine heritage of Palau. Expect to see porcupine puffers, blue Napoleon and humphead wrasses, sea turtles, blacktip reef sharks, zebra sharks and breathtaking coral reefs in addition to sea dragons and sea horses. The Shorebird Sanctuary is also worth a visit as the beauty of wetland flora and fauna are explored in detail. Black-bellied Plovers, Ruddy Ducks, Black-necked Stilts, Western Snowy Plovers and Killdeers are some of its more famed residents although the estuary sea-blite is its most significant wetland plant. Enjoy the story of Sammy the turtle at Turtle Vision 3D where two 3D films are on offer while Lorikeet enthusiasts must head down to the 3200 square foot Lorikeet Forest where the coastal lowlands Down Under have been recreated.

Visitors young and old will also enjoy the Whales: Voices in the Sea exhibit where the calls of blue, Northern right, beaked, gray and humpback whales are heard. Whale conservation issues and scientist interviews are also discussed in an interactive manner.
