The temple of San Sebastian is another notable historical structure in the village. It was built in 18th century. When start walking through the alleys of the temple, you would be actually be walking on the mosaic tiles and when you look at the ceiling, you will find beautiful designs created with caissons. The temple is the most important religious structure for the people of Zinacantan. If you want to take a closer look of the culture of the village, you should visit Zinacantan during the celebrations of San Sebastian that takes place from January 18 to 21 every year. Being a part of the celebrations, you will get a chance to hear several stories related to the temple. According to locals the temple was completed in three days by the saint without taking assistance from any human being. The celebrations include the Carnival where you can enjoy folk dances, music and delicious traditional food.
