subject: Review For The Osim Bench Frame U Comfort Massage Chair Recliner [print this page]

I don't know about you, but I've seen those massage chairs in the mall. Honestly, I've always wanted to go and try it. I've walked by many times, seen people with smiles on their faces and their eyes closed. Not bad for being in the middle of a public place. The other day I was passing by and saw one of those stores and it had an opening in one of the massage chairs. I knew then and there that this was my opportunity. I had to make my way and get in front of this kid who was b-lining to the same chair. I made my move into the Osim uComfort massage chair.

First I had to find the remote for massage chair and then figure out how to start the chair. The remote control has an LCD that displays an icon. The remote fits nicely in the palm of your hand but is more about the size of the TV remote.

Upon a quick examination of the remote, I went for one of the three automatic programs. With the push of a button, the chair sprang into action. A host of things started to happen in parallel.

Right away I noticed a lot of things going on with the chair. Many things initialize in parallel with a massage chair. I felt things starting on my back, others on my buttocks and yet others on my calves.

Something was moving slowly down my back. This didn't have much effect on me. I thought that would start massaging. Once it made its pass, then it started some massaging action.

The roller back mechanism was making its journey up and down my back. While it was doing that, the lower part of me was being fully massaged. My legs were being squeezed and held in the leg rest. This was rather relieving.

Next, the rollers in the back started to make some massage movements. The program started working my shoulders down to my lower back. Different massage movements like rapid tapping and soft kneading interchanged up and down my back.

As I'm sitting there, I just wasn't quite satisfied. My legs didn't feel comfortable and I thought that the chair could recline. I reached for the remote. My question had been answered.

I found a button for the chair recline. I hit the button and the powered recline of the chair back began its descent. This was starting to get fun now.

I was going backwards with the upper half of my body but the lower half was still in a 90 square. I re-examined the remote control and found the answer. I pushed the up button of the leg rest.

As the leg rest shot upward, I reached the right point with the chair back. I stopped the chair back and continued raising the leg rest, all the while getting a full body massage. Now I was getting to a more comfortable position.

I have to say that the lower part of the massage chair was more effective than the upper part of the chair. My legs were being squeezed firmly providing relief. The thighs and buttocks were being worked over. My back just wasn't feeling it. I tried another of the full body programs.

The pattern of the massage movements changed in this next program but that it still did not satisfy my muscle stiffness. I thought that the massage would be much firmer than it was. I was waiting for the uComfort to live up to its name.

I then realized that maybe the uComfort is not sufficiently strong enough for me. Upon this realization, I reached for the remote. I hit the off button and was immediately sent back upright. As the Osim uComfort massage chair returned to its reset position, I scoped out the next Osim massage chair to try on my left.
