Today's older person doesn't, for the most part, like or wants anything to do with advanced technology, which includes the smart phone and cell phones in general. You'll find that there are some seniors that either already use, or would want a cell phone but by and large they purely don't want to get or care about the cell phone technology advancements. Keeping this in mind, it's a very beneficial thing for a senior to want a cell phone even if the cell phone that they have will work for nothing more than to have an outlet to 911 should an emergency happen. For the senior that is still active, driving, going out for walks and so forth, this is even more important. The cell phone goes everywhere that the land line can't.

You're going to find that all cell phone companies are going to offer you a variety of phone choices. The models of the cell phones are constantly changing. It's not completely cut and dry on which phone is going to make the best one for a senior, however, keeping that in mind there are still features that you should be looking for if you're looking to purchase a cell phone for an elderly parent or another senior in your life.

The ideal phone is one that's going to have a keypad with big and easy to read numbers. The phones which will offer a larger dialing display are the most ideal. Along with that you need to look for a phone which is going to offer the user to be able to turn the volume up loudly and/or offer a good speakerphone option. If the senior that you're purchasing for wears hearing aids you'll want to make sure that you choose a cell phone that is hearing aid compatible.

During the process of finding cell phones with those features you want to make sure that the phone you're purchasing is easy for them to use. Predominantly the cell phones that you find today come loaded with the applications and the additional features that most seniors simply don't want. It won't fit the mold and they don't want it or want to go anywhere near a phone like this or especially a smart phone.

If the senior that you have in mind is only going to want a cell phone for emergencies and nothing else, the 911 cell phones are going to make a very good option. These phones are going to allow the user to access 911 in case there is an emergency. Some of these phones are purely for 911 dialing only. All cell phones no matter if they have service to them or not have to be able to dial 911.

There are going to be others that will give options that will give you the ability to pay for calls if there are others that need to be contacted in an emergency. Just take your time when you're looking for your senior loved one. Find a phone which is going to make it easy for use while providing your loved one all of the features that they are going to need in a phone. You're the one that knows your senior the best so take your knowledge and the information contained herein and you're sure to make the right decision and keep the senior safe.
