subject: Obama Grants Will Encourage Moms To Get A Degree [print this page]

Although the government beneath the popular Obama administration is working hard to assist working mothers to return to college many are still unsure as to what the Obama grant is truly about. In truth, the federal programs gaining attention for helping mothers attend college are not new creations but rather they're improvements on existing government benefits. As a mom the idea of going back to college maybe a dream you never thought could be fulfilled now it can through the Pell grants a huge asset to any potential student.

Federal Pell grants are the most common type of government financial aid awarded for college, and they have been around for many years. Unlike a loan, a Pell grant does not have to be repaid, which makes them very attractive to students seeking aid. Seeking an undergraduate degree? Then you have a good running in being awarded the Pell grant formed specifically for those without a bachelor's or professional degree. The Scholarship for mom's program with its two distinct advantages has caused a huge stir amongst single, working moms. Although there is no specific program by that name, President Obama and his administration encourage moms to attend college using the money available to them through Pell grants.

The Pell grant has a further advantage besides it being a monetary gift in that it does not place restrictions when it comes to sourcing other financial aids. Financial aid can be applied and obtained through both federal programs and n on-federal private institutions in order to cover education costs. The 1st of July 2009 begins the start of the award year which will come to an end on the 30th June 2010 with the maximum being paid out through the Pell grant of $5,350.00. It's unlikely that this amount will cover your full college expenses it does not restrict you from applying to other sources. Further the awarded money does not prevent you from using it other then for tuition. Books or a laptop as well as housing or travel are acceptable expenses if they are necessary to pay for your education.

Scholarships for Moms has become popular because the Obama administration's focus on education has highlighted the benefits of the Pell grant program. To become a student and earn a degree as a single, working mother such a federal program fills all the specifics. For some college was a dream that had to be left on the side due to financial difficulties or family concerns, this is no longer so.

The Obama grant given through the Pell grant program has assisted in encouraging many to enroll into college. This is especially true for working mothers. Returning to college and obtaining a degree is certainly the encouragement being given by the current administration to all single mothers working a permanent job.The current administration is heartily cheering for single, full-time working mothers to apply for college and earn a degree. Your future could be much brighter than you realize.
