subject: Sending Parcels Across The English Channel Quicker And Cheaper Than Youd Think [print this page]

Sending parcels to France you would think that they wouldnt cost much more than sending one to somewhere in the UK. Some people have found that they get charged extortionately large amounts for their parcel deliveries that are going overseas but there are ways they could cut down on the cost of their parcels.

Reducing the bulk could help for instance, some items could be weighing too much as extra items that arent required or the container the item is being sent in weighs too much. As most parcel delivery services quote prices based upon the weight of the parcel then it is important that you try and make your parcels as light as possible.

One aspect that can affect the weight of your parcel is the packing material used, most packing material like polystyrene and bubble wrap is already quite light but items that are sent with larger cardboard inserts may need to be switched for a lighter alternative to help reduce the weight of your item.

One of the main things to do when looking for any service that will be sending your parcel is to compare multiple providers, you may find that one courier may be cheaper than another, and dont just go for the names that you have heard of, sometimes smaller couriers and parcel specialists have a higher reputation than other larger companies as they are specialists in delivering to certain countries and perform very well for their customers.

Another key thing to remember when sending via a courier is to check the delivery times, more expensive services will be able to send your parcel quicker but if you were to think ahead and send your parcel earlier for a more affordable service then you could get your parcel to its destination for the same date but at a lower cost to you, the sender.

The benefit of sending to France is that it is another EU country; this means that you will not have to worry about parcels being returned for not having the relevant extra paperwork that needs to accompany your parcel when it is travelling outside of the EU.

Also since France is easily reachable by ferry your parcel may not even have to travel via the air which can add more costs on your order due to fuel and aircraft charges, you may find some of the less urgent services will save you money as your parcel will travel by road and sea instead of by air, as well as earning a few green points along the way!
