If youre linking to an authority site you dont own, be extra cautious about this. If the PVP site moderator notifies the authority site of your aggressive linking, you could lose your whole account in an instant.
A lot of these forums do not allow you to sign up with email addresses from free email accounts such as Gmail, Yahoo, and Hotmail. What you want to do is to create email addresses on your own domains and if you want, you can forward all of them to one email address (free or on your own server).
There is also something called double pass backlinking. This is simply going to these sites, opening up an account, and then waiting a week or so before you go and place any backlinks. The reason you should do this is because most of the time, you will show up on the new user list. And you dont want the moderator to click on your profile, see your SPAM link and then delete your account. Doing double pass will significantly reduce your attrition rate and increase your link security.
Most of the time, youre going to have a limited amount of space to place your links and with BBCode or html, you can easily run out of room with 1 or 2 links. One of the best ways to get around this is to use a URL shortener, like bit.ly. But make absolutely sure that the site uses 301 redirects and not some other kind of redirection, else you may not get credit for your backlink. If you are doing many URLs at once, there are shortener sites that let you mass import links for greater speed.
