subject: Archery For Beginners: Basic Equipment Needed [print this page]

Do guns and archery have something in common? During the early times, both were used for hunting and combat. Nowadays, being two of the most popular recreational activities, both have also drawn a huge interest from the people.

Unlike guns though, when it was added back into the Olympic Games, people have only become interested with archery again. As a beginner, one needs archery equipment in order to enjoy the sport but you don't have to buy the entire equipment and accessories at once. You won't end up buying the pieces that you don't need yet especially if you are on a tight budget that's why it is important that you have some knowledge on how to buy archery equipment.

The basic equipments that you need if you are into archery are the following:

Bow - The very first thing that you need in archery is the bow. When you are just starting to play, start slowly. Start with the equipments used by beginners first before moving on to buy the bow that a champion athlete uses for competitions. Always consider the length and weight of the draw. The 4 types of bow classification should be learned like the longbow, recurve bow, composite recurve

Arrow - The arrow compliments the bow. It is the next basic thing that you need when you are into archery. Choose arrows with a length that matches the draw length of your bow. Like the bow, arrows come in various lengths designed to support either longer or shorter draws. Once you upgrade your bow, you may also need to change your arrows in order to match the type of bow that you use.

Quiver - You can keep your arrows and other equipment where the quiver is. To prevent you from losing the arrows, you need this to keep them safe. You will not need to buy another once you upgraded your bow, not like the arrows, when you pick a quiver that is durable and can withstand extreme weather conditions.

These are the basic things that you need to start with the hobby of archery. For you to get more information, read product reviews, testimonials and expert opinions online. With such you will have a better idea if the equipment is worth spending your money with. You can also try going to an archery specialty store in your area and try the bow and arrows before actually making a purchase.
