subject: Taking Care Of Your Diamond Engagement Ring [print this page]

Buying a diamond engagement ring for your would-be can be a difficult task for you if you do not have enough knowledge about diamonds. However taking care of the ring is equally important on the part of your woman. A lady should know how to take care of precious ring presented by her hubby or would-be. A man gives an engagement ring filled with love and endless feelings so it is the responsibility of the woman to keep it safe and secure forever in life to remember that moment. There are few tips which should be employed by a woman to take care of the diamond engagement ring.

Take off your ring if your doing dishes and showering so it doesn't get a lot of gunk or conditioners built up on the stone. Leave it on when you go to bed, though. Diamonds are very sturdy, so you shouldn't need to worry about caring for it too much. Clean your diamonds and other precious with a toothbrush and soap and water to keep them sparkling. A little vinegar now and again to cut buildup never hurts, either. If you want to (or it's especially dirty looking), you could take it in to a jewelry store and have it professionally cleaned - they'll steam it and put it in the sonic cleaner - to get it extra sparkle. What you'd need to worry about is the gold setting. It can (and probably will) get dings and scratches, but they'll generally be minor and could likely be buffed out by a jeweler. But avoid excessive wear and tear and harsh chemicals that can damage and weaken the setting, especially the prongs. Remove your ring if you're going to be doing anything that could damage it (working on your car, for instance) or you will be getting your hands in chemicals (even bleach - it seems innocuous, but is gold unfriendly), regardless if you're wearing gloves. It's also a good idea to take it to the jeweler once a year or every couple of years to have the prongs checked and make sure the stones are still sitting tight. Some stores require you to do this yearly if there's a warranty on the ring. Be careful about taking it off to wash your hands. That is how you leave it behind someplace and never see it again. Keep it in it's box inside your jewelry case when it isn't on your hand.

Also, if you have two rings (say an engagement ring and a wedding band) having them shuddered together, preserves the life of them. Depending on if you bought your rings from the same place or what not; most places will do it for free. You will also found that this was better for your hand because your rings would shift a bit and pinch in your skin every once and awhile. Also, our jeweler told us not to wear tight leather gloves with the ring on, the pressure can make the diamond loose. So on the safe side, go back to the store where you originally purchased it from, it takes 10 minutes and in the meantime browse at other pieces of jewelry which you dream of.
