I am sure we have all seen them perfectly behaved dogs that can go outside without being on a lead, happily follow their owner around and not cause any problem at all. We then think back to the dog we have at home which barks when the door bell rings or chews your slipper when you are out.

The truth is that a dog is not bad, it just doesn't know how to be good unless it is trained properly. This can be done at any age however it is when the dog is a young puppy that is the best time to do this.

Puppy training teaches the puppy from a very young age how to behave and what is expected of it. It teaches it the consequences of being both good and bad at a time when the puppy is most open to learning.

Having a pet is a real pleasure and dogs especially can become a fundamental part of any family. However it is really only when the dog is well behaved that we can sit back and relax.

It is even small things like toilet training and not chewing things that can help with it comes to puppy training. Some of these techniques can of course be carried out at home however it is really when the training is undertake by a professional that it is most effective.

Your puppy is going to be at its happiest when it is not being shouted at, you are going to be at your happiest when you are not shouting at the dog and life is easier when your puppy or dog is well behaved. So, why would you not do everything that you can to help make sure that it happens.

Puppy training is not really about punishing the puppy when it is bad, but more about praising it when it is good. This is often the part that we go wrong at and can be why puppy training is not as successful as we would like. That is why the help of a professional can really be handy because it teaches the puppy how to behave and it teaches us how to ensure that this happens.
