subject: Creating a Music Band as an Extracurricular Activity [print this page]

When entering a college or university, students are introduced to a wide of choices of outclass activities. The majority of educational establishments offer music bands as worthy extracurricular activities for those who like playing and listening to the music. However, the commitment to music band requires students to take into account some considerations, like specific schedule, full devotion to the creative process of music composing, time to organize and participate in concerts. How to schedule music time: First of all, participation in the band activities takes a great amount of time that often exceeds a normal school day. Music bands usually gather after school for an hour or even more. Such arrangements are aimed at negotiating the time of gathering and organizing possible concerts. There is also a possibility of outside performances, usually on weekend and, therefore, those students who cannot imagine their lives without music should sacrifice their spare time for this activity. Second, frequent off-campus performances allow students meet new people and other musicians. This provides an opportunity to share experiences with each other and learn other styles of music. More importantly, outside meetings can lead to the creation of "inter-college" music bands that can contribute to the development and improvement of cooperation between colleges. Why is it important to practice music? When learning a piece of music student is involved in the process of repetition. So, unless a person can be called a musical prodigy, his/her participation in a music band can become the most exciting activity. When students have a desire to learn to play a particular musical instrument, they should be enthusiastic and creative. At the same time, patience and persistence are also inherent attributes of learning. All the above-mentioned qualities can be acquired during study.
