subject: Extracurricular Activities: Benefits Of Outside Life In School [print this page]

Student life is saturated with interesting and exciting events. You have to face difficult algebraic equations, or philosophic disputes, or sentence diagrams, but the same adventures are waiting for you outside the academic classes. For instance, some students are busy with part-time jobs, other go in for sports. It is desirable for students to choose an activity to have some rest from an educational process.

Why is it important to have extracurricular activities?

1.Preserving a balance. Students should not be fully engaged in the academic process, as this can get them bored quickly. This is why they should have enough time for hobbies and favorite activities.

2.Searching for the self. Extracurricular activities can enable students to reveal their hidden talents that can help them understand their life purposes. Besides, many colleges encourage outside activities inducing students to create something new and extraordinary. For example, there are students who are keen on theatre and theatrical performance in which they can even participate. The passionate fondness of theatre can contribute to students increasing creativity in other academic fields.

3.Extracurricular activities can also grant a brilliant opportunity to organize some alternative kinds of activities that have not been conducted in colleges yet. For example, it is possible to organize the exposition of some exotic collections, or to start the campaign for protecting flora and fauna of the region.

4.Finally, outclass activities can provide the learners with a valuable experience, should it be tutoring kids in elementary schools, or just playing the piano. All those activities contribute to communication between students. Besides, personal preferences and hobbies raise the awareness of the self and reveal the true values of a college life.

Remember that student life is not just persistent learning, but searching for the self. When academic process and extracurricular activities are combined, it is much simpler for learners to find themselves.
