Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha said on Wednesday that a Motorola superphone will soon be released. Once this phone makes it to the market, it may spell the end for smartphones. Who is going to want a caveman(smartphone) tool when you can have a modern one(superphone)? What will make these superphones so much better than the current technology, read along to find out.
Motorola Superphone Versus Smartphones
For starters the Motorola superphone will have twice the power and processing capabilities as ANY modern smartphone, including the recent iPhone 4. It will be carrying a 2 gigahertz processing chip that really does double the 1 gigahertz chip that is in the top of the line smartphones currently. This could make a considerable difference for you in speed and ability to store and use programs efficiently.
Android's newest expected operating system(FROYO 2.2) should also be preinstalled on the Motorola superphone. It will also carry the Nvidia Tegra grapics chip which has Flash 10.1 hardware acceleration capabilities so you can watch Flash grapics and movies on your phone. You can't even do that with the iPhone 4.
In order to keep up with current smartphones such as the iPhone 4 from Apple, the Motorola superphone will also incorporate a built in gyroscope so that you have a full 6 axis controllable phone, which is very useful for specific apps and definitely for pretty much any game. They also plan to include such apps and programming controls as Swype(for simpler keyboard controlling) and Blockbuster Video offering videos to directly rent or purchase right from the phone. Since it will almost certainly offer one of the best new features smartphones have right now, wireless tethering, you would be able to download a movie to your phone, and then stream it wireless to your T.V., computer, or any other wireless device you wanted to connect it with to watch.
When will the Motorola superphone be available to purchase? It is supposed to be by the 2010 holiday season but that doesn't narrow down whether that means Christmas or Thanksgiving. Whichever it turns out to be, it does give us all another phone besides the iPhone 4 from Apple to actually anticipate it's arrival. This could have just been a ploy to deter from the release of the iPhone 4, however, since it came from the mouth of Motorola's CEO I'd say we can probably start getting ourselves ready now.
