subject: an Object Could Not Be Found Error Associated With Ost File [print this page]

Synchronization of Exchange Server mailbox means you are simulating data between Exchange Server and Offline Folder .OST file. When you need to access data from the Exchange Server mailbox or update your OST file, you have to synchronize it with Exchange Server. OST (Offline Storage) is a replica of Exchange Server mailbox, stored on client hard drive locally. When you synchronize with the Exchange Server, OST file is automatically converted into PST (Personal Storage Table) and is updated. However, if the synchronization process fails, the conversion of OST to PST doesnt take place and user cant access the mailbox with updated data.

There is no need to panic as you can manually convert OST to PST using professional and advanced OST to PST email conversion software.

What happens is when you attempt to synchronize offline folder file .OST on MS Exchange Server in MS Office Outlook 2003, the below error message may occur in Sync Issues directory of MS Outlook:

When you send an email after receiving the above error, you encounter the following error in MS Office Outlook 2003:

Task Microsoft Exchange Server reported error (08004010F): The operation failed. An object could not be found.

This behavior terminates the synchronization process and you cannot connect to Exchange Server. Furthermore, it halts OST to PST conversion procedure.

Root cause of this error

The problem may occur due to below mentioned reasons:
