This is one fantastic productThis is one fantastic product. I've bought the Garmin G5 Golf GPS online at discount price, and approach for several rounds so far. I have not had experience with any other golf GPS device before. My decision to purchase the Garmin Golf GPS was based on golf course map availability for my area, durability in wet weather, screen view on bright days, and the reviews of others. I found that every course I could think of in my area, city to suburbs, was included in the list of courses mapped. Once I had the Garmin Approach out on the golf course, my first thought was to gain the trust of the GPS. As I played my first round with the GPS, I continually made comparisons to the yardage markers on the course, and found the displayed information on the GPS to be very accurate within a yard or two. I paced off several hundred yard lengths and compared the number of paces to the Garmin G5 GPS, and again, the device was very accurate.

I have played rounds where someone in my group has used a rangefinder and I find the Garmin G5 GPS to be just as accurate and much quicker to use. I just look at the screen to see the distance to the flag without having to line it up or press any buttons. The screen is easy to read in sunlight even with my polarized sunglasses.

A great feature allows you to move the flag stick on the green to the location where it is placed that day. The unit can provide you with the distance of your shots from the tee to the green. From where you are located you can touch the screen and see exactly how far your next shot has to be to avoid an obstacle. All of this can be accomplished without using any buttons, just use the touch screen to select what feature you want to use.

There were some bunkers missing on the Garmin G5 mapping of my home course. I had contacted Garmin sometime in October to indicate which holes should be corrected. Last week I downloaded a new course update and found the bunkers on my course had been corrected. I'm impressed with the very good response by Garmin.

I have to say, I really enjoy keeping score on the Garmin, also a very intuitive process. Measuring a shot was easy and fun and monthly course updates are free.

The one thing I don't like about it is, I have to use the belt clip to attach to my bag. Clipping the belt clip to your belt makes the unit hang in an un-seeable position so I'd have to keep unclipping it and it seems a little too big to put in my pocket without noticing. So I've solved the problem by ordered the separate slipcase with carabineer clip to hold it to my bag.

Overall, the Garmin G5 GPS is an extremely useful tool and I am pleased with the accuracy of the information it provides. It is very accurate anywhere on the course even under trees. When you turn the unit on and it locks on to the satellite's it brings up the course you are at as your first option.

I would recommend the Garmin G5 Golf GPS unit. It works as advertised and updating is a snap.
