You should also not put a lot of pressure on yourself to run a certain pace or distance. If you are simply just trying to get in shape, just getting out the door can be the hardest part. If you don't mentally psych yourself out before you even start running, you won't find it as hard to get out in the first place. Running on a more consistent basis is what you need the most. People do not simply realize how much their mental attitude impacts how often they workout. Changing a few simple things could make you get out the door that much more. If you can enjoy running, you will most likely be able to get out on a more regular basis. This is the key to long-term success. Don't put pressure on yourself, run consistently, and most importantly, make it fun. These are both things that can easily be done. Once you start to implement these strategies, you will see just how much more enjoyable running can be.
