subject: Getting Off The Couch And Exercising - What's Stopping You? [print this page]

Starting your fitness journey isn't easyStarting your fitness journey isn't easy. There are no magic pills, or no get fit quick programs that will make you fit overnight. It takes continuous work and effort to keep advancing forward.

Exercising takes time and persistence. It is great to form as a habit, and is definitely a healthy one to have. Many people have unhealthy habits. Habits that are bad for you are much easier to continue than they are to get rid of. Often, making exercise a habit usually means you have to get rid of another habit to make way.

Chances are, you probably have a reason why you haven't been exercising. In my opinion any reason not to work out is an excuse. Excuses will keep you from living a healthier life, and they are a way to shift the blame from yourself.

When it boils down to it, the only reason you haven't been exercising is because of you. No one else is to blame, and you can't say you don't have enough time. There is always time to exercise, and there is always a way to fit it into a schedule.

Many of us put off exercising by saying things like, tomorrow I'll exercise, next week I'll start, next month, next year, and then it never happens. The best time to start is now, today, right this very moment.

Quit putting off your health. You are only cheating yourself and are only hurting yourself. "Someday" never comes. Today is the day to start making healthier decisions. There is no on/off switch, you don't automatically become healthy and fit, it is a gradual process that consists of making more healthy decisions rather than unhealthy.

Today you can begin your journey towards better fitness. In fact, as soon as you are done reading this article you can find a fitness program to start, or formulate your own. You can begin to eat healthier, and start making better decisions.

Starting can be the hardest part for many people. If starting isn't hard enough, it is even harder for others to actually keep going. Many people eat well, and exercise well for a couple of days and then throw it all out the window and fall back into old habits.

There is no excuse to excuse your health. Start taking baby steps towards better health and fitness and pretty soon you'll be taking leaps. One step forward is still a step forward, however small it is.

What's your excuse for not exercising? What's keeping you from starting to get in shape today?
