subject: Chris Brown Tickets - Chris Brown Album To Arrive Sooner Than Later [print this page] Originally slated to arrive on DecOriginally slated to arrive on Dec. 15, Jive Records pushed up the release date for Chris Brown's highly-anticipated new album Graffiti to Dec. 8. Although the label didn't offer a reason for the change of date, according to Billboard online, both fans and critics of the controversial singer are curious about what the release will hold in the wake of Brown's February altercation with then-girlfriend Rihanna.
After remaining quiet in the aftermath of the couple's violent row, Rihanna recently broke her silence in a series of interviews on news programs like 20/20 and Good Morning America. During her GMA interview with Dianne Sawyer, Rihanna revealed that she caught Brown in a lie. Apparently when Rihanna confronted him, the violence suddenly escalated. Also during the interview, Rihanna spoke of the shame she felt when photos of her battered and bruised face the night of the incident leaked on the Internet.
Chris Brown's camp fired back after Rihanna's Nov. 6 20/20 interview, with one of the singer's dancers tweeting, "I wish dancers can speak about things that really go on! Let me just say, Chris was pushed to the extreme!" and another confidant tweeting, "Shame on Rihanna." Despite their criticisms, Rihanna claims her decision to speak out publically was not to generate buzz about her new album (as some have suggested) but to set an example for young girls who see her as a role model and might be coping with domestic abuse themselves.
Despite the publicity surrounding Rihanna's batch of candid interviews, Chris Brown is forging on with his music career, and debuted the video for "Crawl," the second single off his forthcoming new album, on The Wendy Williams Show on Nov. 13. Directed by Joseph Kahn, the video features Bad Boy artist Cassie as Brown's love interest, and the lyrics seem to be about Brown and Rihanna.
Kahn recently told MTV online that the video is "probably the most personal thing [Brown's] ever done," continuing to say, "I mean, everything that's happened to him in the year, I think this is going to be his big statement, in terms of what he's feeling and what he's living through right now."
The first single off Graffiti, "I Can Transform Ya," featuring Lil Wayne and producer Swizz Beatz, is currently in the Top 20 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop songs chart. The song features Brown rhyming, "Need a ride? I can Range you up / Money, I can change you up / What you need, you can have that / My black card-they don't decline that," with Wayne rapping later on, "She's gonna transform like Optimus Prime...tell your man he better get his Voltron up."
The 20-year-old singer has been making a string of public appearances as of late, such as headlining New York's Power 105.1 Powerhouse 2009 concert at New Jersey's IZOD Center on Oct. 27 (his first big event since the February altercation), and he kicked off his Fan Appreciation Tour on Nov. 14 in Houston. Brown will remain on the road until Dec. 13, stopping in 19 U.S. cities, so check online for Chris Brown tickets.
