Let me kick off by saying that the use of steroids is not a very good method of increasing your body mass. A lot of people have used steroids in order to increase there body mass, and although they managed to do so, the health side effects they experienced made them regret the use of steroids. Anabolic steroids can lead to the following side effects; enlargement of the clitoris, irregularity of the menstrual cycle, growth of facial hair in women, shrinking of testicles in men, low sperm count, decrease in libido, baldness, kidney problems, liver conditions, heart ailments, insomnia, increase in aggression, and depression.

If you want to increase your body mass you should make sure that you increase your calorie intake. Calories are the fuels of the body without which you can't be able to train intensely in the gym. There are very many foods which are a great source of calories and they include proteins, carbohydrates, and healthy fat. Proteins have two important qualities that are very important for a bodybuilder. One of them includes the ability to repair worn out muscles tissues and the other quality is that proteins contain plenty of calories. That is why proteins have been tagged the name building blocks of muscles. If you try to build more muscles without taking proteins it will be like trying to build a brick house without bricks, that is just how important muscles are to bodybuilding.

The other foods you need to take plenty of are carbohydrates because they are very rich in glycogen. Glycogen fuels the body to undertake intense training and they also help promote protein synthesis. You also need to take plenty of healthy fat in your cooking. Healthy fat includes using vegetable oils when doing your cooking as opposed to using other fats. Fats are very rich in calories.

You need also to train using very heavy weights with fewer reps. Your training regimen needs to include heavy weights because light weights are not capable of damaging the muscles properly to the point where they start to grow. Muscle hypertrophy requires that you do a lot of weight training exercise using heavy weights with fewer reps as opposed to using light weights with many reps. When you use light weights with many reps this training regimen is suited for people who want to become lean and not massive.

Another important form of exercise which you should never neglect is aerobic exercises. The reason I am saying this is because many bodybuilders tend to neglect this exercise thinking that it will make them lose body mass. This is very far from the truth, when you do aerobic exercises you will boost your health and general state of mind. The only way aerobic exercises can lead to catabolism is if you do them for a prolonged period of time. You also need to rest if you want to prevent catabolism from taking place. You should rest properly at night and also in between workouts.
