subject: When Satellite Is Your Only Option [print this page]

Have you ever wondered how your Internet connection happens? It starts from your computer, finds its way to the satellite rotating around the earth's orbit and then the signal is sent back from the satellite and finds its way back to your computer. All these miles in what seems to be faster than blinking. As with any road trip that great of a distance, things can go wrong. Many things, such as weather, can interfere with the signal.

The most common complaint that users have about satellite service is the speed. It has been known to be slow and for some unreliable in the past. This is an opinion that seems to be changing right now. Many companies are investing more in better satellites with more sophisticated equipment. That is good for users because the first thing that gets better with this is the speed increases.

Regular Internet users have their favorite websites, as well as play games, watch movies, chat, email, download and upload documents, pics and videos, and they know very well how important speed is when you are trying to enjoy these things. For the people who don't use the Internet much, they probably wouldn't care about the speed, but waiting and waiting to get to some website, or to receive or send something could justify them not wanting to get on line more.

Most people who get connected to the Internet, use either cable, DSL or the older dial-up connection. If you are one of those unfortunate one who don't have access to any of these, your only option might be satellite Internet. Watching the whole world with all its information and fun open up before your very eyes and ears with new experiences and new wonders at every stop, it will be easy to see the importance of getting connected.

If satellite is the only way you can get connected to the Internet and began to enjoy all the things the web has to offer, remember sometimes is can get a little frustrating. High winds and solar flares can interrupt the signal, as well as other abnormalities can block your signal. But even with these situations, you will find better ways to stay in touch, to communicate instantly, and do business in ways you never thought was possible.
