subject: Why It Is Great To Work From Home [print this page]

Nowadays, we have the technology and abilities to choose to work from home rather than working in an office for a company, business or corporation. There are many different ways to generate income from home, such as freelance writing, blogging, data processing or even just working your usual job from home. The benefits of this are so pronounced that there are businesses that actually prefer their employees to work from home rather than spending all their time in the office.

Why is this?

Because of the abundance of benefits from working at home. There are numerous benefits, and many of them are health related. When you are working away from home, there are many factors that effect your health, some that you may not even be aware of. For one thing, you often grab whatever you can for lunch, and often this means buying fast food, a dry canteen sandwich, grabbing from the snack machine, or simply just skipping lunch altogether because you just don't have the time. Working at home, you can stop whenever you want, make a healthy lunch that will be cheaper and more tasty than anything you would get from a fast food or snack machine.

So many people these days work jobs they don't like, with people they're not that bothered for. They have enormous workloads, no time to take breaks, have to travel during the busiest hours of the day and deadlines coming out of their ears. This leads to a build up of stress, that can be so chronic you don't even realise that you are stressed. It becomes a way of life. However chronic stress is very bad for you, both psychologically and physically.

Reasons why chronic stress is so bad for you include increased blood pressure, premature ageing, tiredness, depression, bad eating habits, muscle tension, irritability and outbursts of emotions. And unless you deal with it, this stress comes home with you as well and can affect your family and home life.

Working at home relieves a multitude of stresses. You can take a break whenever you feel like it, spend time with your spouse, your kids, and when you are working you are comfortably at home, and in a peaceful environment. There is no need to travel during rush hour, there is no need to get up super early in the morning (unless you feel like it!), or come home extremely late in the evening. You can set your own schedules and your own time lines. You do not have to work with anyone you don't like, and you can have whatever you want on your desk!

Offices are breeding grounds for germs and bacteria, just because there are so many people working there, and not all of them are as hygienic as they should be. If you get poorly you either have to take some time off or go through that ordeal of getting into work when you're feeling rubbish. Possibly bringing illnesses home with you as well. If you are ill when working from home you can work a little if you're feeling better after lunch, say, or just work from the comfort of your own bed!

It is a lot easier to get daily exercise in when you are working from home, and this is a sure way to increase your health. Some people spend some time on the break doing some meditation - a fantastic way to increase your mental health. You can also get on with any other business related to home or family or personal projects during your break times, leaving you with more free time outside of work hours.

Some people will tell you that you have more job security when you work at a 'regular' office job. Well, how can it be secure if you can lose that job with two little words (you're fired)? Working at home also allows you to work on many businesses if you choose to, giving you opportunities to increase your salary as many times as you want.

All these things - diet, exercise, peace, extra time, avoiding unnecessary travel, spending more time with family, generating extra income etc. have unlimited benefits to your peace of mind and health of body. Doing what you love at home in order to earn money. Doing it your way. Being in control of your life... Well, what could be better than that?
