While my interests vary and my long term educational goals expand beyond medical transcriptionist training, I have always had an interest in a medical transcription career. As an emergency medical technician and dispatcher, I developed a great sense of urgency, passion for the healthcare industry and attention to detail while maintaining a high level of customer service and care. Working as a transcriptionist will afford me the opportunity to utilize these skills and be challenged on a daily basis as well as allow me to grow professionally. A little over a year ago, I experienced a devastating injury which has impacted my ability to work in a regular office setting or complete courses in a campus setting. This injury has greatly impacted my daily life and experiences, but will not define me as a person, family member, or employee. I may be limited for the time being, however, I am unwilling to allow it to control me. For this reason, I am interested in educating myself to be capable of gainful employment in a field that has always caught my interest and will permit me to continue to work and learn.

Additional advantages of working as a medical transcriptionist may include the opportunity to work with autonomy and flexibility, providing a sense of control over my own life and time and ultimately, the possibility of creating my own business. Working from home would definitely be an advantage in the long run as it would free up travel time and other regular work related expenses so that I may have more freedom as a mom and more money to save or play. Future MT appears to be a great place to begin a career as a medical transcriptionist as it offers many resources during training, with the ability to complete the course in a self-paced manner, and afterward, also offers crucial resources during the job search. Both of these qualities are among the most important of any training program. Future MTs reputation among the medical transcriptionist companies is vital in the job search of any student. This reputation is important to both the student and future employer and could be the determining factor in being chosen for a job. SN:0TG9Y2ESY

While researching the career of medical transcription, I have read many articles of the importance of use devices such as a foot pedal and word expansion software. I was very pleased to see that Future MT integrates these types of aides in their training of students so that they will be prepared to produce the best quality and quantity work possible right out of school. Future MT seems to have all of the qualities essential in learning the trade as well as succeeding as an employee in the field. My immediate goal in the career of medical transcription is to obtain as much knowledge and training as possible. I intend on becoming certified and continuing my education in the field. Once I feel confident and competent, I intend on working for a medical transcription company for a few years to gain experience and continue to build on my competency. Eventually, I would love to run my own medical transcription company to include a group of doctors and/or hospitals and employ transcriptionists.
