Sexually transmitted disease (STD) is one topic folks don't like to discuss in public places or in day-to-day conversations. Individuals may recognize a person who has a sexually transmitted disease, and they may have some knowledge about it, but they automatically distant themselves from getting into the topic and helping many others.

People immediately shudder when they perceive the words "sexually transmitted disease". A few believe that getting a sexually transmitted disease is a burden, meaning having to bear the ailment for the remainder of his or her life. Yet, not all sexually transmitted diseases are permanent. Several sexually transmitted diseases are treatable and can be cured; there are several options of handling the symptoms.

Sexually transmitted diseases that are brought on by various types of bacterial infections like Gonorrhea, Chlamydia and Syphilis are easily remedied. These three conditions are 'quiet', meaning there can be no signs or symptoms; they should be clinically determined and handled immediately to avoid permanent damage.

Gonorrhea is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases; it can be addressed with a course of antibiotics. However, if it is undiagnosed and left alone, it can result in Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. It may also lead to scarring of the urethra, that may cause infertility.

Chlamydia is also treatable with doses of antibiotics; if it is undiscovered and left alone, it may cause harm to the reproductive system and it may also lead to infertility to both women and men.

Syphilis is treatable with penicillin; even so, there is no way to reverse the damages done to the body by this illness. If Syphilis is undiagnosed and left on it's own, there can be permanent damage to many parts of the body, both inside and external. Untreated syphilis, like almost any untreated medical conditions, can bring about death.

However treatment doesn't mean that a person cannot own a sexually transmitted disease once again; there's no immunity to these microbial infections. Education, information and appropriate sexual practices, like using protections, are still the best prevention from possessing these conditions.

If you think that you may own a sexually transmitted disease, or know someone who shows sexually transmitted disease symptoms, make the proper choice and get tested right away. Several sexually transmitted diseases can be remedied; if you hold out very long enough, there will be everlasting damages and it will be way too late.
