The HTC Desire offers a highly powerful processor with a clock speed of 1 gigahertz, delivering even faster multimedia and web browsing and wrapped up into HTC Sense for a highly responsive user interface called HTC Sense. It also features a powerful camera and multiple widgets which can run simultaneously.

The handset has a large 3.7 inch AMOLED touch sensitive display with a 480 by 800 WVGA resolution and featuring pinch-to-zoom capability, it is also able to produce widescreen view in the 16:9 ratio, such as photos taken on the phones camera.

The storage memory is 512 megabytes internally included as read-only memory with expandable storage at up to 32 gigabytes from microSD memory card technology (which is SD 2.0 compatible). The Qualcomm Snapdragon processor meanwhile, has a superfast clocking speed of 1 gigahertz offering fast and efficient power to the handset and its operating system which is Android 2.1, Eclair optimised with the HTC Sense user interface on top.

The Desire has a 5 megapixel resolution camera which is capable of capturing photos and videos, as well as photos in widescreen (16:9 ratio). It is also aided by its auto focus capability and a flash, along with face detection and automatic geotagging. Photos can then be instantly shared from anywhere on Facebook, Twitter or the photo sharing network, Flickr, and videos on YouTube.

Social networking is made easy due to HTC Sense, which includes Facebook integration and applications such as HTC Peep for easy tweets on Twitter and Friend Stream which puts all contacts with their details and Facebook status into one easily manageable display for the user, and makes responding simple.

Meanwhile, Mail and Messages provide simple and easy to use text, multimedia and email messaging capabilities form the handset, as does the Music application for the users music and Photos for viewing photos and videos. The phone also has a navigation application, HTC Footprints and Google Maps. More widgets are available to the user through download too.

The HTC Sense technology and interface also provides a useful ringer feature, where the ringer lowers it volume automatically on the handset being lifted, and turns to mute altogether, if the handset is placed screen down.

The HTC Desire has many widgets and applications running seamlessly on the back of powerful hardware including its processor and random access memory. Meanwhile, it also provides and impressive camera, location based services and multimedia options for the user.
