subject: Kitchen Design [print this page]

Dear Tim: I need some help in the design of the kitchen to my house. And I am sure I know what I want, but kitchen designs are as varied as the faces in a crowd of people. How do I know what is the best design for this work kitchen remodel? What is the best way to approach a new kitchen design project? Sheila B. , Hardeeville, and the Stockholm Convention

Dear Sheila: kitchen design is very important, but sometimes confused with kitchen planning. Both the planning and design, critical, and ignoring one while the focus on the other can lead to disaster and heartbreak. Let's make sure we are on the same page with regard to their needs.

Kitchen design, in my opinion, speaks to the overall look of the kitchen once it is completed. The designer can use different materials, cabinets, finishes, lighting, etc. in order to achieve a sleek, modern look and feel or the kitchen, which was taken in a time machine from the hut at the Irish strange. There are an infinite amount of designs kitchen you can be.

Planning the kitchen, in my opinion, tend to pay more attention to the function of the space. When you are planning a kitchen, I was thinking in the development of the basin, and devices, and types of safes and planning for the cabinets and countertop. The best metaphor I can think of planning a kitchen like the structural steel of the skyscraper and kitchen design is the appearance of a skyscraper out of this one.

No simple answer to the question of your master. I was to ask 100 top kitchen designers what to do with your new kitchen, and you will likely end up with 100 different designs and some are similar, but identical in any way. My suggestion is for you to begin to immerse yourself in the search where you look at the hundreds of different designs, which sees some of the really put your head on a pole.

There can be no doubt that your search you across the tundra and wide of the Internet, in many galleries to cabinet, kitchen design centers, possibly built by large remodeling contractors who specialize in kitchen remodeling. I also propose to begin consideration of any number of excellent books and magazines, kitchen design, which has hundreds of gorgeous color photos of kitchens large and small, expensive and affordable. If you really want to be in the forefront, and to consider the designs in the kitchen done in European countries. European kitchen designers often produce amazing results in small spaces.

There is no doubt that we look beyond just cabinets and countertop. Every surface in the kitchen is a design. Backsplash space between the countertop and bottom of wall cabinets, floor, ceiling, doors, and wall space above and around the reservoirs, and so should all contribute to the overall design theme.

For example, if you are on a tight budget, you may decide to draw a floor of existing and integrated into the design type in the paint. Painted floors hold very well when it is coated with a clear urethane high quality. Do not forget lighting as a design element is very important. Unfortunately, lighting is often overlooked in many kitchen designs that I see.

I urge you to consider conducting interviews with a number of professional designers kitchen. May be able to offer you great advice on how to maximize your design dollars. Graphic designer, who spent the kitchen and may be paid a dollar of waste, but I had the design errors and rookie.

Does not occur all the professional kitchen designers on an equal footing. Some years of vocational training and industry mixed with years of experience in the field. Others may have little or no training in this area. Before signing any contract for the graphic design, be sure to check the qualifications of the person who is going to rent.

At a minimum ask to see the Kitchen Design last worked on 20 projects. In an attempt to determine whether the designer has experience working with the look and feel of you have decided you want. Ask the designer what kind of training and classes that may be taken. Investigation to find out whether they have any kind of testimony from industry associations. Some certificates require many hours of training.
