subject: Pondering The Mobile Broadband Issues [print this page]

If you have noticed all people at the malls, in coffee shops, parks and other public places who are using their laptops, you probably have wondered if all these people really need to be connected to the Internet. It is easier to understand why professionals would need to have those capabilities because running a business or department doesn't stop functioning when they leave the office or make business trips. Work will always need our attention whether in the office or on the run. Good business pros know that time is a valuable resource and will spend it wisely.

Modern technology advances have made mobile Internet service very affordable for most anyone who desires it, making it a very common sight in public. Smart phones, ipads, ipods, notebook and laptop computers make gathering the information we crave everyday as easy as knowing where to click and scroll. The days of having to play phone tag the old fashion way are all but forgotten. Working people can make appointments and request confirmation easily while on the go, anywhere, at their convenience.

Being on line anywhere is also used for educational purposes. More and more schools are switching over to e-books as opposed to actual textbooks. They are also starting to use e-mail and websites as a way to give and accept assignments. Gone are the days of a book bag stuffed with heavy books and wrinkled papers. With this technology, parents are kept right up to date with their young students progress and there are no more excuses about the dog eating the homework.

Laptops are much less expensive than they were when they were a new technology. For the price of a cell phone, you can get a laptop. There are arguments naturally about buying expensive laptops with all sorts of bells and whistles. Some of those machines can do amazing things at high speeds. But you also have to consider that technology advances amazingly fast. For the vast majority of people it is a far better idea to buy a cheaper laptop now and then buy another one in a few years. You could spend thousands on a fancy laptop and it will still be technically a dinosaur in less than four years.

You have to remember the fun factor of being on line anywhere too. It isn't just kids that like to cruise on Facebook and play games. Those social networking sites are free and they are a good way to keep in touch with people. They are also a good way to keep on top of what your kids are up to. Most kids will sign up for many different social networking sites and they will talk to friends and make plans this way. This gives you insight into your kids lives that would be otherwise pretty tough to get.
