subject: Hdtv Antenna - Changing The Way You Watch Television [print this page]

That high definition TV in the middle of your living room might be lacking one thing which is really important: television shows in HD. Sure, you may have your DVD players hooked up, but what about your everyday TV? How exactly does an HDTV antenna become valuable to your viewing life?

A lot of people may prefer cable services to supply them with these programs, but little do they know that a lot of networks nowadays offer free-to-air television shows in high definition, as well. As time goes by, probably all networks would then be offering the same as what you get from HD cable companies. On the other hand, your typical antenna may not be sufficient to give you a very nice HD signal.

Your antenna captures the signals from the broadcast towers of the networks and then converts them to pictures through your television. Most of the time, people with antennas outside of their house get the better signals. Powerful units and larger units also affect how they get signals. However, the philosophy is pretty much the same - to get HD television shows without the need to pay for them.

Generally, there are three kinds of HDTV antennas: indoor or short range, mid-range and the long range ones. Long range ones are said to be the strongest and largest of the three. However, it doesn't necessarily mean that you'd get better TV quality with a larger antenna. Most of the time, location is very crucial as to how good your television gets its reception.

Aside from saving money with the antenna, you also get to save all the hassles of cable company maintenance days and other interruptions. With your own antenna, you do not rely on anybody to deliver your high definition TV signals - it goes straight from the broadcasters to your own television set. Not only would you get to save money from paying monthly service fees, but you also save space in your home because you don't have to have those bulky cable boxes.

Since there are a lot of antenna kits to hook up to your television, you actually do not have to wait for a service man to help you connect your television. You may do it yourself without the need to go through a lot of cables from the company. With your own antenna kit, you can easily install it and watch your high definition shows in a breeze.

Since you are also the one who connected it, there's a big chance that you actually know which doesn't work or not. You get to troubleshoot even better because you know how you actually installed the device. Kits typically have their own instructional booklets so you can enjoy watching your favorite shows in full high definition. As such, it lessens the hassle of other people identifying the problems for you.

Of course, an HDTV antenna can save your money and your time. You also get to remove that bulky cable box, or perhaps the need to connect a satellite dish. With these things in mind, you can just plug in your antenna and relax while watching your favorite television shows - in HD.
